Glycolic Peel Cleansing Pads

Q: How do I use the Glycolic Peel Cleansing Pads?

It's easy, just wipe the texturized glycolic pad onto skin, avoid getting it in the eyes and mouth. Dispose when done. The Glycolic Peel Cleansing Pads are a single use application. Watch this quick video to learn how to use the Glycolic Peel Cleansing Pads.

Q: When is the best time to use or apply the Glycolic Peel Cleansing Pads?

A: Anytime! After a workout to #SundaySelfcare. Keep in mind, everyone's skin is different. With that said, dermatologists recommend to apply according to your skin's type and tolerance.

For dry and sensitive skin, start by applying once a week.

Normal and combination skin, it's recommend to use twice or three times a week to start.

Those with oily skin and prone to acne breakouts, it is possible to use everyday or up to twice a day for best results.

Other best practices include using the Glycolic Peel Cleansing Pads after a workout to clean the sweat, oil, and dirt off the surface of the skin to avoid breakouts, clogged pores, and dull-looking skin. For more information on after-workout skincare check out our partnership with MindBody here. The Glycolic Peel Pads are the perfect solution for on the go skin cleansing. Toss in your work out or travel bag.

The Glycolic Peel Cleansing Pads are very versatile. They can be used as a once a week or once a month peel treatment and applied each day to enhance your cleansing routine. If you need a boost in your skincare routine to brighten dull-looking skin, accelerate the skin's exfoliation, or combat stubborn acne use the pads after cleansing your face, neck, or body with pH Balanced Cleanser

Q: Is it possible to leave the non-neutralized glycolic acid on overnight? The directions don't mention to wash the acid off after applying.

A: Yes, it's possible to leave overnight and not rinse after applying. This is a normal practice in a dermatology clinic when receiving a chem peel. You can use a wet cold cloth or rinse off if needed or desired. Commonly when you feel the tingle or see some redness after application, it is recommended to use lotion or pat the skin with a wet cold cloth to help soothe the skin. Once applied the glycolic enters the pores, so washing off the skin will not remove the glycolic, it will help to soothe any tingling. If desired you can apply lotion/moisturizer to the skin after the glycolic peel pads. It is not required to only apply moisturize in the morning.

Q: I bought the Glycolic Peel Cleansing Pads. When the pads become dryer or dry, how does one wet them again? Water makes them less acid or even neutralizes them.

A: To ensure the Glycolic Peel Pads retain their acid moisture formulation check that the jar is completely sealed after use. Do not store in dry areas or in direct sunlight. They should not get dry. The Glycolic Peel Cleansing Pads are for single use. After using dispose of the pad.

Q: Why do I feel my skin is stinging or tingling when I apply non-neutralized Glycolic Peel Cleansing Pads? Is it safe?

A: It's normal and completely safe to feel the Trustworthy Tingle - it will not damage or hurt your skin. Here at Dermatologist's Choice we call that stinging or tingling sensation the Trustworthy Tingle

The Trustworthy Tingle refers to the sensation some people first experience after applying non-neutralized Glycolic Acid products. This potent ingredient may cause this feeling due to the active compound working to generate cell turnover. Trust us, while it may feel unusual and maybe even a bit uncomfortable at first, this natural response is totally normal and safe. After a few tries, you may even grow to love it!

Q: How can I minimize and soothe the tingling, stinging feeling after I apply the Glycolic Peel Cleansing Pads?

A: To minimize the sting or what we call the Trustworthy Tingle, pat a wet cold cloth on the skin or apply fragrance-free lotion like the DermChoice Lotion to the skin to help decrease stinging. It can also help decrease redness.

Q: I've never used the Glycolic Peel Pads or non-neutralized glycolic. What can I expect?

A: If you're new to non-neutralized Glycolic, you'll likely feel the Trustworthy Tingle more than someone who has used non-neutralized Glycolic for months or years. If you're new and feeling the tingle, your skin can appear dry or red after using non-neutralized Glycolic; don't worry, just apply some lotion to soothe your skin. This is definitely not a reason to quit using the product though, as continued use of non-neutralized Glycolic builds the skin's tolerance and better results. You may not feel as strong of a tingle, but rest assured the Glycolic Acid will still be working just as hard for you. You want to feel a tingle, that means it's working and results are coming.

Q: If I use more than one Glycolic Acid (AHA) product in my daily skincare routine, will they irritate my skin? For example, can I use the Glycolic Peel Pads with the Ultra Anti-Aging Cream or Facial Enhancement Cream?

A: Yes, It's absolutely possible to use more than one Glycolic Acid product in your daily or weekly skincare routine. In fact, it can even be beneficial - in most cases, using more than one product with Glycolic Acid will accelerate the good benefits of this powerful ingredient! This means less acne, wrinkles, and darks spots sooner! By incorporating more than one Glycolic Acid product, the powerful effects will be stronger and penetrate deeper into the skin. This is the key to faster results.

It's true that Glycolic Acid can initially irritate your skin before your skin develops a tolerance. To avoid red, irritated skin, apply non-neutralized Glycolic in small quantities over several weeks. Consider your skin type when using non-neutralized Glycolic Acid products in your daily or weekly skincare routine. Below, we explain the best way to use multiple Glycolic Acids products to avoid redness or irritation.

Q: What skincare products do dermatologists recommend I use with the Glycolic Peel Cleansing Pads?

A: For those of you with more dry or sensitive skin, we recommend using multiple products with a lower percentage of Glycolic Acid, such as the pH Balanced Cleanser and the Facial Enhancement Cream. These two products are ideal for daily cleansing and moisturizing, and they're gentle and effective enough to use every day. If you have never used Glycolic before, these two products are a great place to start. Remember, you need an active ingredient to really see an improvement in your skin; soap and lotion alone don't activate the skin's rejuvenation process.

For those who have oily or combination skin, you're in luck. The natural oils on your skin create a barrier that shields your skin from the full effect of the non-neutralized Glycolic Acid, which means you can use more or stronger products with less worry of causing irritation. Give our flagship and strongest product, the Ultra Anti-Aging Cream a try. Remember though, oily skin or not, you still need non-neutralized Glycolic Acid for real results.

Q: How many days will my skin flake, peel, or feel dry after using the Glycolic Peel Pads.

A: Typically when receiving a chem peel treatment at the dermatologist or med spa the skin takes between three to seven days to return to normal. The timeline is similar when using the Glycolic Peel Cleansing Pads. After applying the pads skin may feel dry and tight. Day two to four skin may flake or peel. Between day three and seven skin will appear brighter, smoother, and more healthy looking. It is possible to not experience any peeling or flaking. This may mean the pads can be apply more frequently as desired for a heavier peel treatment. If you experience extremely dry, irritated skin, apply lotion and decrease frequency of use.
